Wearing makeup to the gym used to be a major no-no. But these days, the majority of women leave the office and head straight to the gym with little to no time to wash their face before stepping into a class or grabbing a quick workout. Now while I am not a fan of showing up to workout with full hair and makeup, I am an advocate of not rolling in and not making us question whether or not you showered or brushed your teeth.
I often toggle between classes, meetings and clients throughout my day, so looking presentable at all times is a must. But looking put together doesn’t have to be a 30 to 45-minute ordeal. . . And with a 5AM start time the last thing I want to do is wake up and take part in a long hair & makeup routine. I try to alternate the days that I wear makeup to the gym. During the week, I am all about a 5-minute face but on the weekends or days off I allow my skin to breathe and sweat freely.
When I am teaching or training, I prefer to stick with a tinted moisturizer or SPF, like Sweat Cosmetics or Lune+Aser BB Cream Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30. Both provide light, breathable coverage to nix the redness and any uneven spots on the skin.
Brows help to shape and define your face so I always like to make sure that mine are groomed. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is a double-duty pencil and brush, that gives you a natural finish and tames sparse hairs.
I’m a huge fan of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. It provides buildable coverage and doesn’t cake, flake or smudge when I crank up the intensity. I prefer the regular formula, but for those that like a waterproof version they’ve got you covered.
You can always find at least one [sometimes two] tubes of Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in my gym bag. I’m not a lipstick girl so the light pop of color is just enough for me. The moisture lasts for up to 8-hours and they come in 6 everyday, wearable shades that compliment every skin tone.
No matter which direction you prefer to go with your skincare, the last thing you want to do is slather your face with heavy creams and foundations that will clog your pores and can lead to irritation or breakouts. When possible look for products and lines that are vegan/cruelty-free and don’t contain parabens or phthalates.
